Lincoln Competition 2018

Once we got to Lincoln High School on Thursday, March 16th. We unloaded the trailer and got the pit set up. Then we sent a few members of our team set off to scope out locations for our pac-man game. This year we thought it would be a good idea to hide Mr & Mrs pac-man and the ghosties around the school and if people find all of the hidden papers, they can come to our pit, show pictures for proof and claim their prize. We chose a pac-man theme for the game and our robot design because we thought it went along with the whole video game style very well. The game ended up being a big hit and we gave out a lot of our prize over the weekend. The next day, our very first match which happened to be qualification match number 1, went pretty well and our alliance won by about 100 points. Moving on to our second match, the robots encoder, after changing the gearboxes to minitough boxes, was counting the rotation of the wheel at 545 instead of 380 like it had been during our testing. So, the count being off ended up making our auton mess up and the robot completely went crazy. It happened again during our 3rd qualification. (You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bray4OcNWog&feature=share). We ended up figuring out that we work best on the vault and could get all 9 cubes. The next day comes along and although we were ranked 28th we were picked to join the 5th alliance along with teams 470 and 6861. After making it to semi-finals, we were knocked out by the number 1 ranked alliance of 3604, 3641, and 5067. We were also given the spirit award! Although we had an auton mishap and ranked a bit low, we had fun and are proud of the work we accomplished. Now on to Belleville!
