Materials Needed
Here is a list of different materials that are needed in order to build a simple chassis robot. The links show places where the needed parts can be found for a fair price.
If you are buying the materials on your own though, it can get pricey really fast. There are several kits on amazon along with other websites that sell a lot of the needed materials as a pack. This is cheaper as buying the things separately will give you a surplus of the needed amount instead of just getting the small needed amount of each item.
There is the option of getting a launchpad kit. The kit comes with:

Multi purpose or Scout knife
