PPE- Personal Protection Equipment

Personal Protection Equipment is necessary safety equipment that every individual should wear when in potentially hazardous situations. The equipment needed varies depending on the situation and tools being used. Personal Protection Equipment includes:​

  • Safety Glasses

  • Safety Gloves

  • Earbuds

  • Hard Helmet

  • Chemical Mask

  • Hair tie ( long hair )

Possible Hazards

While working on the robot there are a range of haphazardly situations. Be aware of your surroundings and be knowledgeable on the tools you are using and make sure you're properly  using your tools. Possible safety incidents       include:                                     

  • Cuts                              

  • Burns                           

  • Eye Injury                    

  • Hand Injury                 

  • Hair Entanglement     

  • Short-Term Deafness

  • Acid burns

First Aid

In case of a scenario where an accident does occur it is important to use first aid materials for your wound.

​

Cuts- First sanitize the area with a sanitizing wipe. If you have cut ointment apply a little to the cut area. Then place the appropriate size of band-aid that covers the cut completely.

Eye- If you do get something in your eye do NOT rub your eyes. What you need to do is lift your upper eye lid and move your eye around while washing it out with water.

​

Acid Burn-Wash area with acid contact with plenty of water.

Prevention

The most important aspect of safety is preventing dangerous situations from occurring. With that being stated here are some basic steps and precautions to take while working that can resolve many, if not all hazards that you may come across:

#1. Pay attention to your surroundings.

#2. Make sure you are using tools properly. If you are unsure ask an adult.

#3. If you are not positive about anything ask another person.

#4 Make sure no one is in your work space while using tools (especially power tools).

#5. Wear the proper PPE.
